This blog is in conjunction with the NY6 Think Tank Student Fellows Program.
The goal of this program is to create projects which explore the importance of Arts and Humanities in today’s world.
My project is about connections. The more I learn about the world, the more the borders between art and science, literature and law, or even poetry and math reshape. Arts and Humanities bleed into every other aspect of human life, and my project will demonstrate this. I will publish a series of essays addressing these connections and why they matter.
Each short essay will juxtapose two seemingly distinct fields, and discuss how they influence, shape, and inform one another. The topics I plan to explore, such as Literature and Public Policy; Philosophy and Biology; Creative Writing and Computer Science; and Language and Mathematics, each hold personal relevance to me. However, I will take this opportunity to extend these connections beyond my experiences as a student, and into a wider cultural and historical context. The aim of my project is to explore how the humanities not only strengthen our experience with the factual world, but also create and shape that world.
